Serving Others at Christ Church

At Christ Church, we support a wide range of local, regional, and international causes. In addition to the two ongoing ministries described below, we also partner with other local Churches, synagogues, and other communities of faith on service projects throughout the year.

Community Services Agency

CSA is a nonprofit agency helping the hungry, homeless, needy, youth, elderly, and families in Mountain View, Los Altos, and Los Altos Hills since 1957. The mission of CSA is to promote independence and self-sufficiency through direct service. At Christ Church we support CSA financially, and on the second Sunday of every month parishioners donate nonperishable food, which is blessed during the service and delivered to CSA.

Palo Alto Veterans Administration Hospital

We host monthly dinners at the VA for patients at the Polytrauma Rehabilitation Unit and their families at the Fisher House.  The Polytrauma Rehabilitation Unit treats active duty military personnel learning to live with loss of limb and brain injury.  The Fisher House is a “home away from home” for families of patients at the hospital.  The dinners are prepared at Christ Church, and we welcome more people to help cook or serve meals.

We also host a summer barbecue at Shoup Park for patients in the Polytrauma Unit, their family members, and staff.

With funds raised at our annual Valentines Dinner Dance, we donate requested items for patients at the Polytrauma Rehabilitation Unit. Our gifts have included personal hygiene items, art therapy and gardening supplies, personal computers, radio/CD players, music CDs, and movie DVDs.

The Christ Church Outreach Committee also has collected funds in support of the Capt. Matthew Mounoukian Scholarships for Veterans at Foothill/DeAnza College.

Outreach Grants

The Christ Church Outreach Committee authorizes the distribution of grants each year to various non-profits working locally and around the world. Recent recipients include Episcopal Relief and Development, Cristosal, Mentor Tutor Connection, The Nambale Magnet School, and more.
